Supporting the economies of low-income regions to enhance their ability to cope with major earthquakes is an objective that is very much worth pursuing but requires a long term strategic approach and will, that is often beyond the influence of the engineering community. Changing the way in which we construct and strengthen buildings in such areas is a more targeted and impactful step to mitigate the disproportional seismic risk in such areas.
Join us during the World Conference on Earthquake Engineering next July in Milan to exchange ideas on building smarter and safer, with and for the community.
