The aim of this test is to experimentally verify the static and kinetic coefficient of our PVC-sand-PVC low-cost, seismic isolation system as a function of excitation frequency, vertical pressure uniformity, sand density and moisture content. Few more credits to add: to our late and beloved colleague Prof. Nick Alexander with whom we initiated this journey on low-cost isolation and to our Laboratory expert Dr. Matt Dietz and Dr Raffaele De Risi who greatly contributed to the conceptual design of the test. The work is also a follow up of the excellent work performed by Anastasios Tsiavos as part of our GCRF – SAFER project.
