Over two days of testing we subjected the structure to a range of seismic motions using our 6x4m shaking table. During testing we collected a large dataset of high-resolution instrumented and contactless measurements. Most importantly, we managed to excite the structure until the onset of structural collapse. Identifying the strength and damage modes of this new structural system was one of the key scientific objectives of this project. In the coming months we’ll be pouring over these data to understand more about the behaviour of the specimen.

3DCP is an emerging field with potential for many applications, but structural and seismic performance is still to be well understood and documented. The results from this world-first project will help form the basis for preliminary design guidelines for this application of technology.

A huge team of colleagues and collaborators have been working together for the last 18+ months to get us to this stage, and we are grateful for their involvement.
